Keeping an Eye on Everything That Happens
Duet Paty & Leo: Good Music Entering Your Home to Ease Isolation!

Duet Paty & Leo; With an extensive schedule of shows before the COVID-19 pandemic, they saw the virus attack like a moth devouring the agenda they worked so hard to fill.
Performing over 100 shows per year, the duo was on a trajectory for professional growth, a challenging feat in the music market dominated by the "Sertanejo Universitário" trend—a genre that, despite having little to do with universities, thrives due to significant investments in media, social networks, and grand productions with lights and impressive stage setups. While these elements dazzle the eyes, they don’t always touch the soul. "Wow, I'll attend this concert; it must be good, after all, they fill stadiums and attract thousands," some say. However, due to a lack of space for quality music, most audiences head in the same direction, like passengers on Irwin Allen's Poseidon Adventure.Thankfully, not everyone follows this path—many still prefer quality, which always surpasses quantity.

Stay Home
But COVID arrived, and "stay home" became the expert-prescribed solution as restrictive measures were adopted everywhere. And now, José? What’s next?
That’s when Paty and Leo came to the conclusion that the best way forward was the old saying: “The artist goes where the people are.” Since people were at home, they decided to go there too. During the Duet Paty & Leo livestreams (Sundays at 3 PM), you’ll find an exciting mix of a festive atmosphere, rock, romantic songs, Bossa Nova, pop, and jazz. But if you're the exclusive type, there’s also the option of gifting a Personalized Serenade by the Duet. Paty & Leo record a professional video with a song chosen by the romantics to win the heart of their loved one, including a heartfelt message to make the moment unforgettable. This can also serve as a tribute for any special occasion, such as birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and more.
Paty and Leo
The couple from São Paulo, Paty and Leo, met in music school while studying vocal and popular guitar courses. Social distancing forced them to reinvent themselves and find alternatives. "It's undoubtedly a lot of work, but we're happy to continue our projects even if it's online," says Paty Fernandes, who was a backing vocalist in Raul Gil's (SBT) band and participated in Mauricio Manieri's latest DVD.
Before the pandemic, the duo performed live music at weddings, corporate events, and more. Life's challenges gave them the ability to navigate various musical styles. "We enjoy fulfilling people's requests, and over time, we've refined and expanded our repertoire. We have over 500 songs spanning Samba, Bossa Nova, Jazz, MPB, Rock, Pop, and more—music and styles that defined eras and still captivate today's audiences. We respond to followers' requests during live streams and through messages on social media."

The Future
What does tomorrow hold? What will my destiny be?
"Let life take me wherever it will"—close to the people, that’s what we want. To travel, perform across Brazil and the world, continue our personalized work for events, and meet the people who enjoy our music, who have sent kind messages and encouraged us to keep going. I’m sure this will pass, many things will change, and we hope for a more supportive world where people value leisure and work even more.
When I watched a live performance by the Duet, I was captivated and asked them to perform four more songs, as they had announced the end of the session. I even told them to feel free to do an encore; is that too much to ask? Despite their extensive repertoire, Paty and Leo are always adding new songs, researching, and creating fresh arrangements. They are constantly attentive to audience requests, they said in an interview that came about after someone attended their live performance. Watch it:

Social Media
"Before the pandemic, we didn’t prioritize social media as much as we do now. Our time was filled with performances, rehearsals, and recordings. Creating new arrangements to showcase our musicality and avoid repetition has always been a priority.”
"We love receiving heartfelt comments during our livestreams. That’s what we aim for with our work: to bring emotion to our audience. We’re growing on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/duetpatyleo, and Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/duetpatyleo/. We celebrate every new follower and share."
"Our livestreams are like a show to us, but we handle everything ourselves—from setting up the stage with care to soundchecking (as musicians and sound technicians), creating marketing visuals, and editing videos. We truly love what we do and are very happy," Leo concludes.
Sunday Sessions
Every Sunday at 3 PM, Duet Paty & Leo go live, interacting with their audience, fulfilling song requests, and humbly sharing their crowdfunding platform: https://www.kickante.com.br/campanhas/duet-paty-leo-contribuicao-arte. This enables people to contribute to their high-quality performances and help fund their upcoming album, which is already in the works.
"Both the serenades and the livestreams were ways we created to stay healthy during this challenging time of social isolation. The feeling that our career isn’t stagnant is crucial for our artistic and emotional sides. Surprisingly, since the start of these COVID-19-driven projects, we’ve made many new friends. We feel that our music is reaching new audiences worldwide.”
